For many years, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory hosted a summer school for UK PhD students in experimental particle physics to learn the fundamentals of their field and meet their peers at other universities. Until 2007 this was hosted at the laboratory and students stayed at Cosener’s House in Abingdon. From 2008 onwards the school has been funded by STFC and hosted at different universities.
