Studentships

The Particle Physics Department (PPD) offers studentships and research opportunities for undergraduates, postgraduates, and early-career researchers. Work alongside world-leading scientists, gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge experiments, and develop the skills to shape the future of particle physics.

PhD studentships

Every year, PPD offers several PhD studentships in experimental particle physics, in partnership with a UK university. Work within leading research groups on a wide range of topics across high-energy and rare-event physics.

Work experience

Every year, PPD staff members supervise several students on projects across experimental particle physics, computing, software engineering, and communications. The STFC Work Experience programme is available to students in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 at schools based in the UK (S4, S5 and S6 in Scotland).
