Wednesday 11 November 2015 Speaker: Pawel Majewski (RAL/PPD) Title: "Dark Matter Hunt with LUX-ZEPLIN" Abstract: LUX-ZEPLIN is a second generation Dark Matter experiment to be installed one mile underground in the former Homestake gold mine in South Dakota. With total liquid xenon mass of about 10 tonnes, it will be the most sensitive detector for the direct detection of Weakly Interacting Massive Particles. I will discuss the LZ design and performance, with the focus on the UK contribution and the PPD deliverables.
