Wednesday 22 July 2009 Speaker: Jeff Hartnell (Sussex) Title: MINOS: Latest Results and Future Plans Abstract: MINOS is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment that uses the NuMI neutrino beam at Fermilab. MINOS's first results measured neutrino oscillations at the atmospheric mass splitting via the disappearance of muon neutrinos. The latest results that will be reviewed in this talk include: a search for electron neutrino appearance in the Far detector; searches for muon anti-neutrino disappearance and/or appearance; updated searches for sterile neutrinos and tests of Lorentz violation. Finally, the exciting future plans for MINOS, using a dedicated muon anti-neutrino beam, will be outlined.
