Wednesday 15 February 2017 Speaker: Dmitry Emeliyanov (RAL/PPD) Title: "Track finding techniques in experimental particle physics” Abstract: Track finding is typically the most computationally intensive part of HEP data analysis. The aim of this seminar is to review various track-finding methods developed to date. The review includes standard techniques such as the track following, methods based on integral transforms, and hybrid approaches using cellular automata and graph theory. A particular attention is paid to the algorithms, which could be efficiently accelerated using GPUs or custom hardware.
