Wednesday 11 January 2017 Speaker: Costas Andreopoulos (RAL/PPD/Liverpool University) Title: "Report from Neutrino 2016 (London, 4-9 July, 2016) and Phystat-Nu 2016 (Fermilab, 19-21 September 2016)” Abstract: The International Conference on Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics (Neutrino) is a major physics conference held every other year. Its primary purpose is to review the status of the field of neutrino physics, the impact of neutrino physics on astronomy and cosmology, and the vision for the future development of these fields. The 27th instance of this conference (Neutrino 2016) was held in London from Monday 4 July to Saturday 9 July. With about 700 registered participants Neutrino 2016 was described as the `largest gathering of neutrino physicists ever’. The Workshop on Statistical Issues in Experimental Neutrino Physics (Phystat-Nu) is an event that brings together statisticians and experimental physicists to address challenges in the analysis of data from neutrino experiments and in the design of future experiments. A Phystat-Nu workshop was held at Fermilab from Monday 19 September to Wednesday 21 September. My talk will review the most interesting presentations from Neutrino 2016 and Phystat-Nu 2016.
