Wednesday 7 December 2016 Speaker: Alastair Dewhurst (RAL/PPD) Title: "Computing in high energy physics: From recent developments to preparing for the LHC Run 3 and 4” Abstract: From the 8th to 21st October 2016, there were 3 consecutive conferences on Computing in High Energy Physics in San Francisco (The WLCG workshop, CHEP16 and HEPiX). A large range of experiments both present and future were represented as well as site admins and software developers. My talk will review the most interesting presentation I was able to attend which will cover distributed analysis, data handling and infrastructure. I will also give an overview of the as yet un-solved challenges facing the LHC experiments when analysing their data in Run 3 and 4.
