Wednesday 27 July 2016 Speaker: Bill Murray (RAL/PPD) Title: "The Higgs boson: from discovery to precision measurement" Abstract: The LHC run 1 revealed the existence of a "new boson". But why do we call this new particle a Higgs boson, and what do we really know about it? Some profound questions about our Universe raised by its discovery are explored. Finally the expectations for current and future LHC runs are touched on, both for better measurements of the Higgs boson, and why we might anticipate further discoveries.
