Wednesday 11 March 2015 Speaker: Iacopo Vivarelli (Sussex University) Title: "Search for stops and sbottoms at the LHC: status and prospects" Abstract: The successful completion of the first run of data taking at a reduced centre-of-mass energy is a milestone for the LHC programme. The ATLAS and CMS collaborations have conducted a wide range of searches for physics beyond the standard model. Supersymmetry has been at the core of such searches, and the limits set by the collaborations have severely constrained several popular models. This period between the end of the first and the beginning of the second LHC run is ideal to review the most relevant experimental searches performed by the ATLAS collaboration, with emphasis on the search for third generation squarks. Prospects for the next LHC run will also be discussed.
