Title: “Luminosity Measurement at CMS”


Abstract:

The design and performance of the CMS luminosity system is described.   Calibration is carried 
out using Van der Meer scans, where the transverse dimensions of the LHC beams are measured 
to arrive at an absolute luminosity value.   Cross checks based on physics "standard candles" 
are described.
