Wednesday 5 October 2011 Speaker: Dmitry Emeliyanov and Abdeslem Djaoui (RAL) Title: Reports from the Future Computing Workshop (15-17 June Edinburgh) and the Workshop for Future challenges in tracking and Trigger Concepts (7-8 July CERN) Abstract: Recent developments in computing and software architectures have huge potential for accelerating applications used in experimental particle physics. This includes the use of many-core and GPU architectures. We review the talks given at these two workshops and present the work of the RAL ATLAS group on a possible future application of GPUs in the ATLAS trigger.
