Wednesday 20 July 2011 Speaker: Fred Wickens and Antonis Papanestis (RAL/PPD) Title: “Highlights from the conference Technology and Instrumentation in Particle Physics 2011” Abstract: TIPP2011 was the second of a series of conferences instituted by IUPAP in 2007 “to foster and encourage worldwide cooperation and communication on the Development of Detectors in Particle Physics and closely related fields". The program of the conference focused on all areas of detector development and instrumentation in particle physics, astro-particle physics and closely related fields, including accelerators and applications in medical areas. Approximately 50% of the time was used for plenary overview talks and the other 50% for a large number of parallel streams in various specialist areas. This talk will present a brief overview of the conference and then pick out some selected highlights.
