Wednesday 1 September 2010 Speaker: Abdeslem Djaoui (PPD, RAL) Title: Summary of CERN Workshop on Adapting LHC Applications and IT Computing Services for Multi-core capabilities Abstract: The advent of multi-core processors has provided a disruptive change to the way applications are designed and computing services are provided. Applications that can exploit the parallelism inherent in new hardware impose new requirements on the computing services provided by the local computer centres and by the Grids. A workshop was organized at CERN to discuss these requirements from the perspective of various experiments (ALICE, ATLAS, CMS, LHCb) and to discuss possible solutions. This talk will provide a summary of the outcome from the workshop.
