Title:   Looking up and looking down - Space Science and the Technology that enables it

Abstract:

This talk will give an overview of the science that is done in space, why we need to do it in space, and the
connection with ground-based work. There will be particular emphasis on projects in which the Space Science
and Technology Department is involved. The science is underpinned by a technology programme that has led to
applications outside the areas of space science and astronomy. Combined, they have an impact on everyone,
everyday.
