Wednesday 7 July 2010 Speaker: Gary Zhang (PPD, RAL) Title: Recent developments in Pixel sensors - a summary of the VIPS 2010 workshop Abstract: VIPS stands for Vertically Integrated Pixel Sensor. The techniques try to extend the structures into third direction to get improved sensor performance which were limited by CMOS feature size. The benefits include lower power dissipation, logical span of control, low mass etc. This talk will be based on the slides presented in the workshop and give a basic introduction of the technologies, such as through silicon via, bump bonding, deep p-well… Some examples of the applications in HEP and other areas will also be shown.
