Wednesday 02 June 2010 *** To be held in Pickavance Lecture Theatre, R22 *** Speaker: Dr. Jonas Radermacker (Bristol Univ.) Title: Cross-generation flavour physics Subtitle: The measurement of gamma and how CLEO-c helps Abstract: Paradoxically, it is the precision measurement of the Standard Model value of the CP violation parameter gamma that provides one of the most powerful ways forward in the search for New Physis in the flavour sector. We will give an introduction to the status of New Physics in the flavour sector, focussing how the the next generation of flavour physics experiments, LHCb, which will allow such a precision measurement of gamma - and how this depends on results from the recently retired, grant old lady of flavour physics: CLEO.
