Wednesday 24 March 2010 Speaker: Prof. Geoff Hall (Imperial College) Title: Construction and Performance of the CMS Tracker Abstract: I will give an overview of the history of this very long project to build the world's largest silicon detector and report on the performance achieved with emphasis on the first results from data taken in LHC collisions in 2009. I will try to compare the objectives with the actual achievements and comment on the differences between them.
