Wednesday 10 March 2010 Speaker: George Lafferty (University of Manchester) Title: Tau physics: status and prospects Abstract: The tau lepton provides a powerful tool for studying physics both in and beyond the Standard Model. I will review recent progress, coming mainly from the large samples of tau-pair events available at the B-factory experiments, and I will discuss the prospects for tau physics at the LHC and at super B and tau-charm factories.
