Wednesday 08 October 2008 Speaker: Sheila Rowan (U Glasgow) Title: The search for gravitational waves: status and plans Abstract: The detection of gravitational waves remains one of the most challenging problems in experimental physics. Observation will allow us to see deep into some of the most violent events in the Universe. In this talk a review of this emerging new field in observational astronomy will be given.
