Wednesday 10 September 2008 Speaker: Chris Damerell (RAL) Title: Detector R&D for the Linear Collider Abstract: During 2007, the Detector R&D Panel for the Linear Collider held three in-depth 4-day reviews, in the main areas of tracking, calorimetry and vertexing. The conclusion in each case was that we are far from ready to build detector systems which will meet the physics goals. The needs for future R&D work will be discussed. The challenges are largely independent of which collider (cold, warm or 2-beam like CLIC) will be built next.
