Wednesday 16 January 2008 Speaker: Neil Spooner (University of Sheffield) Title: Proton decay and beyond Abstract: An overview of the LAGUNA project that brings together efforts towards construction of a massive underground detector in Europe. Such a detector would have a very rich physics programme covering proton decay, neutrino astrophysics, geo-neutrinos etc. This is set in the context of recent technological advances, such as demonstrated by Borexino, and the growing interest and investment in underground facilities in Europe.
