Title: Multi-Chip Modules using Deposited Interconnect Layers for Pixel Detectors

Abstract: An alternative module design for the ATLAS pixel detector has been developed and tested. Interconnect layers are placed directly on the active sensor using a depositing technology. The technology has been developed, studied, tested, and prototype single chips and modules were built up. The design concept is introduced and studies of the basic design - especially electrical and performance capabilities - using laboratory and test beam measurements are presented.
